RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO UNITED STATES <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY BROWNFIELDS ASSESSMENT <br /> GRANT PROGRAM (FY 2016) <br /> RESOLUTION NO. R2015-130 <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Decatur is interested in applying to the United States <br /> Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) for a grant to fund Brownfields <br /> Assessment, and <br /> WHEREAS, USEPA's Brownfields Program empowers communities to work <br /> together to assess, safely clean up and sustainably reuse brownfields; and <br /> WHEREAS, the USEPA Brownfields Program helps communities realize <br /> additional benefits, including stimulating private investment; creating new jobs; and <br /> contributing to increased property values; and <br /> WHEREAS, a USEPA Brownfields Assessment Grant would provide the <br /> City of Decatur with funding to inventory, characterize, assess, and conduct <br /> planning and community involvement related to brownfields sites; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City of Decatur to complete and file a <br /> written application and then enter into a written agreement(s)with the USEPA. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE C I T Y C O U N C I L <br /> OF DECATUR , ILLINOIS asfollows: <br /> Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are not mere preparatory language, but <br /> are hereby incorporated in this Section 1 as if said Recitals were fully set forth. <br /> Section 2. The City of Decatur is hereby authorized to apply for a Four <br /> Hundred Thousand Dollar ($400,000) USEPA Brownfields Assessment Grant for <br /> the purposes as outlined above and under the terms and conditions as required by <br /> the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Illinois and <br /> hereby agrees to the understandings and assurances contained in said application. <br /> This grant requires no local matching funds. <br /> Section 3. The Mayor is authorized to provide such additional information <br /> as may be required to accomplish the obtaining of such grant. <br /> �ection 4. The City Council authorizes the Mayor to sign a n d execute <br /> any and all documents necessary for the completion of said application, acceptance <br /> of such grant, and execution of grant agreements to fulfill the intent of this <br /> Resolution. <br /> 1 of 2 <br />
