Currently, in the absence of other available fund'mg, work in the out years of 2017-2022 is <br /> listed 'm the 5-year Capital lmprovements Plan as being funded with Motor Fuel Tax funds which will take away from needed road <br /> work. <br /> Engineering Services Agreement <br /> Carl Walker was originally retained by the City in 2009 after the City solicited proposals from firms specializing in parking garage <br /> restoration. Carl Walker, headquartered in Chicago, was selected at that time as the firm with the expertise and ability to best assist <br /> the City in maintaining its parking garages. They are familiar with both structures and the work needed to improve them. <br /> The recommended scope of services includes: <br /> 1. Review proposed repairs with City staff. <br /> 2. Prepare fmal design drawings and an opinion of probable costs. <br /> 3. Prepare project specifications for the proposed improvements. <br /> 4. Assist the City in bidding the project. <br /> 5. Review bids and prepare a recommendation for award of contract. <br /> 6. Review and approve contractor submittals and shop drawings. <br /> 7. Conduct regular site visits to assist the City with project site inspections. <br /> SCHEDULE: Design wark will begin upon Council approval and will be completed in March 2016. It is expected that construction <br /> will occur summer of 2016. <br /> POTENTTAL OBJECTTONS: There are no known objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Carl Walker, Inc. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director and Matt Newell, City Engineer. Richard Marley will be in <br /> attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: The Professional Engineering Services Agreement with Carl Walker, inc. is for a fee not to exceed $30,000 and is <br /> allocated in the Bond Fund. Funds to complete the 2016 repairs are also included 'm the Bond Fund.
