Nooden,Assistant City Engineer� <br /> SUBJECT: Annual Sanitary Sewer Cleaning, City Project OS-11 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by.staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Annual Sanitary Sewer Cleaning, City Project OS-11, to Walden Associated <br /> Technologies, Inc. as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$140,022.00, and that <br /> the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Sanitary sewer lines are a vital part of the City's infrastructure and require constant <br /> maintenance. City crews are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of over 400 miles of <br /> sanitary sewer pipes within the city. Clean unobstructed sewer pipes will reduce sewer <br /> backups and improve the overall operation of the City's sewer system. <br /> The proposed Annual Sanitary Sewer Cleaning Project has been set up to clean approximately <br /> 107,000 lineal feet of sanitary sewers located within seven of the City's quarter sections. Pipe ,, <br /> sizes range in size from 6" to 24" in diameter. The sewer cleaning project has been developed 'I <br /> to augment the cleaning work currently being performed by City maintenance crews. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project <br /> was advertised June 20, 2005, and bids were opened on July 11, 2005.
