Nooden,Assistant City Engineer� SUBJECT: Annual Sanitary Sewer Cleaning, City Project OS-11 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by.staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for Annual Sanitary Sewer Cleaning, City Project OS-11, to Walden Associated Technologies, Inc. as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$140,022.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. BACKGROUND: Sanitary sewer lines are a vital part of the City's infrastructure and require constant maintenance. City crews are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of over 400 miles of sanitary sewer pipes within the city. Clean unobstructed sewer pipes will reduce sewer backups and improve the overall operation of the City's sewer system. The proposed Annual Sanitary Sewer Cleaning Project has been set up to clean approximately 107,000 lineal feet of sanitary sewers located within seven of the City's quarter sections. Pipe ,, sizes range in size from 6" to 24" in diameter. The sewer cleaning project has been developed 'I to augment the cleaning work currently being performed by City maintenance crews. The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project was advertised June 20, 2005, and bids were opened on July 11, 2005.
