. } <br /> �COMMENCEMENT AND TERM <br /> 1. This Agreement shall become and be effective as of June 1, 2005, and shall continue <br /> in effect through May 31, 2007, or until one party or the other shall give notice of its I <br /> intention and desire to terminate the same, not less than sixty(60) days prior to the ! <br /> desired date of termination. <br /> �2. This Agreement may be extended at the sole discretion of the City for three (3) <br /> additional one (1)year terms (option years). The first option year shall begin on June 1, <br /> 2007 and end on May 31, 2008;the second option year shall begin on June 1, 2008 and <br /> end on May 31, 2009; and the third option year shall begin on June 1, 2009 and end on <br /> May 31, 2010. <br /> � 3. The terms of this Agreement relating to the amount of fares charged to Operation <br /> Uplift participants during each option year, if exercised by the City, shall be negotiated <br /> between the parties prior to the commencement of the option year. <br /> �� OPERATION UPLIFT GUIDELINES <br /> The Cab Company shall operate in accordance with the guidelines of Operation Uplift, issued by <br /> the City, which shall include, but not be limited to,the following: <br /> �� 1. Only persons who have been certified by the Decatur Public Transit System as unable <br /> to use the City's fixed-route bus system due to a disability shall be eligible for fare <br /> , subsidies under Operation Uplift. The Cab Company shall seek fare subsidy reimburse- <br /> ments only for the fares of passengers who present an Operation Uplift photo-identification <br /> card, issued by the Decatur Public Transit System, as proof of certification. <br /> �t 2. The Cab Company shall also transport escorts, if space is available, and Personal Care <br /> Attendants who are traveling with Operation Uplift participants. Escorts are riders who <br /> � are not Operation Uplift participants and who are picked-up at the same origin point, and <br /> dropped-off at the same destination, as the Operation Uplift rider. A Personal Care <br /> Attendant is a person certified to provide health care, and required to travel with the <br /> Operation Uplift participant. <br /> �''3. The Cab Company shall seek fare subsidy reimbursements only for the fares of <br /> passengers whose trip origin and destination are within the service area of the Decatur <br /> Public Transit System, as determined by the City and as amended from time to time. <br /> �`'4. The Cab Company shall seek fare subsidy reimbursements only for rides provided on <br /> ' the days and at the times that the buses of the Decatur Public Transit System are scheduled <br /> to be in operation, as determined by the City and as amended from time to time. <br /> -2 - <br />
