Newell, P.E., City Engineer,�,�J` i <br /> 1N"- <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing the Allocation of Motor Fuel Tax Funds for General , <br /> Maintenance 2005 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: I <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the <br /> allocation of$370,000.00 in Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds for general traffic signal maintenance <br /> work to be completed in 2005 and that the Mayor by authorized to sign said resolution, and the ', <br /> City Clerk to attest. ' <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds allocated to local agencies are administered by the Illinois <br /> Department of Transportation (IDOT). The City is required to adopt a resolution specifying the <br /> allocation of such funds to their intended project. <br /> In previous years, the City has generally budgeted approximately $370,000.00 per year in MFT <br /> funds to reimburse the General Fund for expenses related to the operation and maintenance of the <br /> City's traffic signals. This funding covers the costs of two City Electricians, their vehicles, <br /> materials and electricity costs. IDOT reimburses the City's MFT fund for a portion of the traffic <br /> signal maintenance work completed on traffic signals located on State highways in the City. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to these resolutions. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Illinois Department of Transportation <br />
