E., City Engineer�� SUBJECT: Water Service Agreement for 2440 Hulett Lane, 2444 Hulett Lane SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolutions authorizing Water Service Agreements between the City of Decatur and the property owner of 2440 Hulett Lane and 2444 Hulett Lane. BACKGROUND: In the spring of 2002 the City extended a 12 inch water main down Route 48 and Forest Crest Drive as part of a project to complete a water main interconnection on the south side of the City between Route 48 and Route 51. As is typical with these extensions, residents periodically request City water to service properties located outside the City limits. To service properties outside City limits, a Water Service Agreement must be entered into between the City and the property owner(s). The Water Service Agreement recommended herein is for properties which do not directly front onto a City water main. Over the years, City staff has been approached on numerous occasions by residents who own property close to City water but are not directly adjacent to a main. This agreement provides these residents with the opportunity to extend a water service to their properties while at the same time safeguarding the integrity of the City's water system and its record keeping ability. POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objections to this resolution and agreement. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None.
