Perry, Purchasing Supervisor� <br /> SUBJECT: Salt Brine Production System & Storage Tank Bid <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Koenig Body <br /> and Equipment, Inc. to furnish one (1) 2004 Varitech SB600 salt brine production system and <br /> storage tank. <br /> BACKGROUND: This equipment does not replace any currently in use. The salt brine system <br /> is used in conjunction with the anti-icing sprayer. The salt brine will be applied to the bridge <br /> pavement in advance of a winter storm, and will provide immediate deicing when the storm <br /> starts. According to the MSC Manager, IDOT uses this system also. It should also help reduce <br /> overtime costs since it can be applied during normal work hours. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: MSC Manager requested the equipment and wrote the <br /> specifications. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Steve Swanson, Engineering & Infrastructure Director 424-2747, Phil <br /> Wilhelm, MSC Manager 875-4820. Dick Borders will be at the council meeting to answer any <br /> questions the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $11,400 from the Capital Budget. <br />
