Newell,P.E., City Engineer Nn� <br /> Doug Nooden,Assistant City Engineer bR� <br /> SUBJECT: Seigel Street Improvements, City Project 04-15 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution <br /> awarding the contract for Seigel Street Improvements, City Project 04-15, to Otto Baum <br /> Company, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$264,859.25, and that <br /> the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The purpose of this project is to improve ride quality and drainage for the brick pavement <br /> on Seigel Street and Forest Avenue. Rehabilitation consists of patching and replacing <br /> (with brick recycled from the Wabash Crossing project) the numerous settled, patched, <br /> and failed areas that exist on both streets. Storm sewers on Seigel Street presently are <br /> non-functioning and will be replaced. This project also includes the replacement of <br /> adjacent curb and gutter sections as necessary. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The <br /> project was advertised July 29, 2004, and bids were opened on August 19, 2004.
