Albert, Sr.,Fire Chief ���. <br /> SUBJECT: FEMA Fire Prevention Grant <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that we accept a grant from the <br /> Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA) for the FY03 Assistance to Firefighters -Fire <br /> Prevention and Safety Program. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Fire Department submitted a grant <br /> application to the Department of Homeland Security Emergency Preparedness &Response <br /> Directorate (FEMA of DHS) for the FY03 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program in the <br /> program area of Fire Prevention and Safety. The grant has been approved. The approved project <br /> cost amounts to $25,945.00. <br /> The approved grant is for the purchase of equipment and supplies necessary for fire <br /> prevention programs. This grants will also allow us to enhance our smoke alarm give-a way <br /> program and permit us to purchase and provide carbon monoxide detectors to citizens in need. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None � <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Les Albert,Fire Chief <br /> BUDGET/TIME The Federal government's share of the $25,945.00 <br /> IMPLICATIONS: grant is 70°Io or$18,162 4,220 and the City's share <br /> is 30% or$7,783.00 <br />
