The low bid for this proposed project was supplied by WAS CON Company. WAS CON has not <br /> completed work for the City in the past. Engineering staff has reviewed references regarding <br /> their work for other municipalities in the State. The following municipalities were contacted: <br /> Village of Oak Park, Village of Downers Grove, City of Park Ridge, and the City of Naperville. <br /> The individuals contacted indicated that WAS CON performed quite well on the sidewalk <br /> projects completed for the municipalities. The Illinois Department of Transportation has issued a <br /> Certificate of Eligibility to WAS CON for work up to $500,000 for miscellaneous concrete <br /> construction work which includes sidewalks. <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the execution of a contract with WAS CON for <br /> the City's sidewalk project. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution <br /> and bid award. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> Travis Stanley, Civil Engineer I, at 424-2747 <br /> The City Engineer, Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Funding for this project is currently budgeted in the City's Street Capital Improvements Fund. <br /> The recommended low bid amount is $209,950.50. <br /> The project is scheduled to begin July 2004 and should be completed by October, 2004. <br /> attach: 2 <br /> cc: John Smith, Assistant City Manager of Public Services <br /> Phil Wilhelm, Municipal Services Manger <br /> Doug Nooden, Assistant City Engineer <br /> WAS CON Co. <br /> Entler Excavating Co., Inc. <br /> Page 2 <br />
