E., City Engineer�,�,✓l SUBJECT: Amendment to Water Main Extension Heritage Road City Project 2003-25 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing a change order to the Water Main Extension Heritage Road, City Project 2003-25, for the construction of a water main to service the future South Water Tank, proposed to be placed on the south side of Rotary Park, north of Grove Road. BACKGROUND: On April 5, 2004, the City Council authorized a contract with Bodine Services to complete the water main extension work along Heritage Road south of Decatur. This work is currently underway. On Apri12, 2001, the City Council authorized an agreement with Bainbridge, Gee, Milanski and Associates (BGM) to perform the engineering work for a proposed water tank on the south side of the City to address pressure problems. The City is currently close to entering into an agreement with the Decatur Park District to place the proposed south water tank in the new golf course currently being constructed on the east side of Route 51 near Grove Road. If an agreement is reached to place the City water tank within the new golf course, it will be imperative that the main service line connecting it to the City's water system be installed by mid-August so that its construction will not interfere with the final grading and seeding of the golf course. To expedite the construction of the main, it is proposed by City staff that the work be completed as a change order to the water main project that is currently active.
