Smith, Assistant City Manager far Public Services
Keith D. Alexander, Director of Water Management
SUBJECT: Lake Decatur Basin 6 Dredging, City Project 9956
Proposal for Survey Work
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing a proposal with H. L. Chastain & Associates,
LLP, to perform survey work on a time and material basis at an estimated cost of$23,692.
BACKGROUND:
The City's dredge has a computerized dredge production and geographic location system named
WINOPS. When fully utilized, WINOPS continuously monitors dredge production rates and the
dredge's exact location as it removes lake sediment. This is important to document the dredge
operator's productivity, to determine exactly where the sediment is to be removed, and to
provide accurate project reporting to State and Federal regulatory agencies. The proposed survey
work will collect, assemble and input the data required by the WINOPS system.
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS:
None foreseen.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES:
Dredging Supply Company- the firm that built the City's dredge.
STAFF REFERENCE:
Keith D.
