Newell, P.E., City Engineer�� <br /> SUBJECT: Shadow Lane Relief Sewer, City Project 2003-20 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Shadow Lane Relief Sewer, City Project 2003-20, to Entler Excavating Co. Inc., as <br /> the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$152,434.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to <br /> execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On September 15, 2003, the City Council authorized a contract with Bainbridge, Gee, Milanski <br /> & Associates, Inc. (BGM) for the design of a relief sewer on Shadow Lane to control the <br /> surcharging problems that have plagued the area for years. A sump pump drain line was installed <br /> in the Cresthaven Park neighborhood during the summer of 2003, which completed a major <br /> effort by the City to remove non-sanitary drainage from the area sanitary sewer system. The <br /> Shadow Lane Relief Sewer should complete the City's efforts to manage the ongoing sanitary <br /> sewer surcharging and backups in the neighborhood. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by BGM with some modification by City <br /> Engineering staff. The project was advertised February 5, 2004, and bids were opened on <br /> February 24, 2004.
