y f
Mass Transit Memorandum
No. 120803-1
December S,2003
TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council Members
FROM: Steve Garma ity Manager
Paul McCha c , Mass Transit Administrat ,g=
SUBJECT: IDOT Capital Assistance Grant Contract Amendment
CAP-02-792-FED, Contract No. 3264
SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council approve a Resolution to execute an
RECOMMENDATION: amended agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation
(IDOT)extending the deadline for the capital grant from December
31, 2003, to December 31, 2004.
BACKGROUND: On February 14, 2002, the State executed a capital grant agreernent
with the City and that agreement is only valid through December
31, 2003, "unless the Department(IDOT), at its discretion, grants
an extension of time." Since funds remain to be spent for two of
the seven projects listed in the agreement, staff has petitioned
IDOT to extend this agreement through December 31, 2004. The
proposed amendment would have no effect on the amount of funds
available or the types of projects to be funded. The proposed
amendment would merely extend the deadline for spending the
IDOT funds.
POTENTIAL There is no known or expected objection to the proposed
OBJECTION: amendment.
INPUT FROM Nicholas Haddad, Illinois Department of Transportation
OTHER SOURCES:
STAFF REFERENCE: Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator
BUDGET/TIME There would be no change in the budget for capital projects, and
IMPLICATIONS: the proposed amendment would not require additional staff time
or expenses.
