Newell, P.E., City Engineer�t/l SUBJECT: Annual Sewer Television Inspection Program Contract Amendment, I' City Project 2003-19 ' SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution approving an increase to the contract amount with Tele Scan, Inc., for the Annual Sewer Television Inspection Contract, City Project 2003-19. The resolution authorizes the City Manager and the Director of Engineering & Infrastructure to increase the existing $200,000 contract amount by$100,000 to a maximum $300,000 in order to allow continued televising work in the City sewers. BACKGROUND: On April 21, 2003, the City Council awarded a contract to Tele Scan, Inc., for Annual Sewer Television Inspection for Fiscal Year 2003-2004. The contract authorized the inspection of sanitary sewer lines, manhole inspections and other sewer inspection work at a cost of$200,000. To date, Tele Scan has completed the video inspection of over 119,809 feet of sewer, 56 manhole inspections, and has responded to over 93 sewer inspection emergency calls. Emergency inspection calls are generally used to investigate sinkholes, blocked sewer services or mains, maintenance problems and some residential complaints. It has proven very beneficial to have a local firm engaged in televising work for the City. The opportunity to see and troubleshoot sewer problems is a significant capability in the City's ongoing maintenance efforts.
