Newell,P.E., City Engineer;�r,�.,� SUBJECT: Manhole Rehabilitation, City Project 2003-15 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for Manhole Rehabilitation, City Project 2003-15, to Tele Scan, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$48,273.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. BACKGROUND: In the Spring of 2003, the City Council approved a project to line various sanitary sewers in order to control infiltration and restore structural capacity. The proposed Manhole Rehabilitation Project is a continuation of that work. The manholes along the sewer sections that were lined are rehabilitated to reduce infiltration and restore their structural strength. The rehabilitation process generally entails applying a cementitious material to the inside of the manhole that seals it and increases its structural capacity. The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project was advertised September 9, 2003, and bids were opened on September 29, 2003.
