Newell,P.E., City Engineer;�r,�.,� <br /> SUBJECT: Manhole Rehabilitation, City Project 2003-15 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Manhole Rehabilitation, City Project 2003-15, to Tele Scan, Inc., as the lowest, <br /> responsible bidder in the amount of$48,273.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the <br /> contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> In the Spring of 2003, the City Council approved a project to line various sanitary sewers in order <br /> to control infiltration and restore structural capacity. The proposed Manhole Rehabilitation <br /> Project is a continuation of that work. The manholes along the sewer sections that were lined are <br /> rehabilitated to reduce infiltration and restore their structural strength. The rehabilitation process <br /> generally entails applying a cementitious material to the inside of the manhole that seals it and <br /> increases its structural capacity. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project <br /> was advertised September 9, 2003, and bids were opened on September 29, 2003.
