Newell, City Engineer��� <br /> SUBJECT: Right of Way Purchase from James & Lois Soules <br /> and Richard & Janice Hunt <br /> City Project 2002-35, Mound Road/Rt. 51 Intersection Improvements <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached resolutions authorizing the payment <br /> of$35,600 for the purchase of right of way totaling approximately 0.018 acres from James and <br /> Lois Soules located at 214 East Mound Road and $11,260 for the purchase of right of way <br /> totaling 0.037 acres from Richazd and Janice Hunt located at 3815 Constant View. The <br /> acquisition of this right of way is necessary for the improvement of the Mound Road /Route 51 <br /> intersection which is part of the improvements needed to accommodate the proposed Target <br /> development on the southwest corner of the intersection. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On May 27, 2003, the City Council authorized the design of intersection and road way <br /> improvements to accommodate the proposed Target site development. The design of the <br /> intersection and roadway is nearing completion and it is necessary to begin acquiring right of <br /> way to accommodate the proposed improvements. <br /> The intersection of Mound and Route 51 is being expanded to accommodate two left turn lanes <br /> in each direction and a new right turn lane on eastbound Mound Road. Mound Road is being <br /> expanded to a 5-lane cross section adjacent to the proposed Target site. <br />
