Alexander,Directar of Water Management j/n <br /> 1`j� <br /> SUBJECT: South Water Treatment Plant Chlorine Feed System Improvements Study <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council adopt the attached resolution approving Task Order No. 3, with Attachments A and B, far a <br /> Continuing Agreement for Engineering Services with Black & Veatch Corporation to perform a South <br /> Water Treatment Plant Chlorine Feed System Improvements Study for a lump sum of$45,700. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The chlorine gas feed system provides drinking water disinfection and is required by Federal and State <br /> drinking water regulations. Chlorine gas is highly corrosive and toxic. The study is desired to analyze <br /> chlorine gas safety improvement alternatives and further reduce the remote potential for chlorine gas <br /> releases. Black&Veatch is recommended to accomplish this work since they are the firm that performed <br /> the original engineering and design work for the South Water Treatment Plant. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> None foreseen. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Black&Veatch Corporation <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> Keith D.
