2.2 Bodine will install one boring to an approximate depth of 10 fbgs to encounter the backfill material. 23 Bodine shall utilize hand or mechanical augers to obtain a soil sample from approximately 10 fbgs. Since there are no Illinois EPA sampling protocols for this type of investigation under standard regulatory programs, Bodine proposes the installation of one boring at the approximate location of the lowest elevation of the sanitary sewer discharge near North Water Street from building diagrams. For this boring, one soil sample will be obtained from the approximate base of the fill material used around the piping and submitted for laboratory analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs), Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs) and the eight (8)Resource Conservation and Recovery Act(RCRA)Metals. The boring shall be screened with a PID to determine i the appropriate interval to collect samples for laboratory analysis. 2.4 The vertical sample location shall be determined in the field using the PID and auger cuttings. The location within the boring that exhibits the highest PID reading shall be collected for analysis. If PID readings do not indicate the presence of VOCs, a grab !i sample shall be collected at an interval consistent with the highest potential for the presence of contamination. 2.5 Bodine shall submit up to 1 sample for laboratory analysis of VOCs, SVOCs and 8 RCRA Metals. 2.6 Bodine shall submit the soil samples to and Illinois EPA Certified Laboratory for analysis of VOCs using method SW 846 Method 5035/8260 and SVOCs using method SW 846 Method 8270/8310 and 8 RCRA Metals using method SW 846 6020. 2.7 Upon completion of the subsurface investigation, the boring location shall be filled with excess drill cuttings. The remaining drill cuttings will be spread immediately adjacent to the boring. 3.0 LETTER REPORT 3.1 Following the completion of the investigation and upon receipt of the analytical results, Bodine shall prepare a Letter Report which outlines the findings of the subsurface investigation. Analytical results will be compared to applicable State regulatory levels, as specified in the applicable regulations. Included with the report will be a site diagram, boring logs, analytical results table,photographs and copies of the analytical report from the laboratory. The report shall include written descriptions of activities performed. 4.0 COMPENSATION 4.1 The estimated cost to conduct the subsurface investigation in accordance with Article 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 is $9,460.00: -3- BOD/NE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES, INC.
