� � Mass Transit Memorandum No. 052703-1 May 27, 2003 TO: Honorable Mayor Osborne and City Council FROM: Steve Ga , City Manager � Paul McCh nc , Mass Transit Administratc�w^�� SUBJECT: Amendment of State Operating Assistance Grant for FY-2003 Grant#OP-03-08-IL, Contract#3319, Amendment#1 SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council adopt a Resolution approving an RECOMMENDATION: amendment of the State Operating Assistance Grant for FY-2003 BACKGROUND: The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has awarded an Operating Assistance Grant to the Decatur Public Transit System to reimburse the City for up to 55% of the Transit System's operating expenses. The maximum amount of that grant was $1,870,156, and it covers the state's fiscal year, from July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003. Based on the expenditures through April of this year, staff submitted a revised estimate of expenditures for the year, and a request that the maximum amount of reimbursement under this grant be increased by $55,000, to $1,925,156. The increase would ensure that City funds are not required to offset the Transit System's operating deficit for the year. IDOT has approved staff's request, but now requires a formal resolution of City Council to award the increase. POTENTIAL No known objection to this Agreement. The amendment would increase the maximum amount of IDOT funds by$55,000. No additional City funds are required.
