A ex der, Director of Water Management <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Lake Decatur Basin 6 Dredging Project <br /> City Project 9956 <br /> Dredge Tender and Fuel Barge Purchase <br /> Change Orders No. 1 through No. 5 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing Change Orders No. 1 through No. 5. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Staff and the City's design sub consultant for this equipment, Dredging Specialists, recommend <br /> approval of Change Orders No. 1 through No. 5 at a cost of $16,817. With approval of these <br /> change orders, the revised price for the dredge tender and fuel barge is $260,567, which is 6.9 % <br /> over the original bid. Council approval is required since the total of the change orders is in <br /> excess of $5,000. These change orders are the result of the manufacturer's suggestions to <br /> improve the safety and performance of the equipment at a modest cost. The change arder details <br /> are: <br /> No. 1: Add one steel skeg to protect the dredge tender propeller from underwater debris <br /> damage - $4,950. <br /> No. 2: Modify fuel barge spud design for greater strength and ease of operation- $900. <br /> No. 3: Prep and paint dredge tender and fuel barge internal steel surfaces to enhance <br /> equipment longevity- $4,800. <br /> No. 4: Add five engine gages to the dredge tender pilot house for the operator to monitor <br /> the engine while operating the tender- $3,392. <br /> No. 5: Add a single lever neutral start control (to assist with the operation of the dredge <br /> tender crane and fuel transfer system) and drain plugs to the waste oil and fuel <br /> pipe enclosures (to provide for easier clean up) - $2,775. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> None foreseen. <br />
