Love, Neighborhood Serv' irector �, -'!� �� I <br /> SUBJECT: CDBG Public Service Grant Allocations for FY03-04 <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Stai� recommends approval of the attached resolution allocating $94,205 for Public Service <br /> projects, $10,000 for the Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations (CONO) to use for eligible <br /> neighborhood activities and $20,000 for CONO to use for Crime Prevention Through <br /> Environmental Design(CPTED) projects. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> On January 21, 2003 staff presented the City Council with recommendations to provide a total of <br /> $94,205 for Public Service projects, $10,000 for CONO to provide neighborhood activities and <br /> $20,000 for CONO to use for CPTED projects. The Public Service project recommendations <br /> include: <br /> • $25,000 to the Adult/Teen G.E.D. Academy to provide Workforce Skills to enhance <br /> job readiness for low and moderate income persons. <br /> • $24,919 to Baby Talk to expand and enhance e�sting literacy and parent education <br /> programs for low and moderate income families. <br /> • $25,000 to Lincolnland Chapter of American Business Clubs (AMBUCS) to provide <br /> wheel chair ramps and handicap modifications to dwellings of persons with disabilities. <br /> • $19,286 to Prairieland Chapter of Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities to establish a <br /> loan closet of assistive/adaptive technology items which would help enable disabled <br /> persons to remain self-sufficient in their homes. <br /> As a part of the information previously provided to the City Council, two Public Facility projects <br /> were identified as being on hold: Old King's Orchard neighborhood facility and Webster Cantrall <br /> Ha11. Staff is moving forward with the review of these projects and recommendations will be <br /> made to the City Council during the month of February. <br /> POTENTIAL O�TJECTIONS: <br /> Organizations who have not been recommended for funding. <br />
