f to share in the cost of the three projects. The non-Federal funds will have to be provided by the
property owners or possibly from other sources that IEMA may be able to locate. City staff
does consider this a reasonable opportunity to pursue on behalf of the residents interested in
obtaining access to this grant source.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION:
There are no known objectors to this action.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES:
Mr. Ron Davis of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Mr. Robert Stewart.
STAFF REFERENCE: '
Steve Swanson, Director of Engineering & Infrastructure at 424-2747.
The Director of Engineering & Infrastructure, Steve Swanson, will be in attendance at the City
Council meeting to respond to questions on this matter.
BUDGETITIME IMPLICATIONS:
The City is not proposed to share in the costs for the floodproofing to these private residences.
The HMGP application must be postmarked for return on or before August 31, 2002. The time
frame for the projects have been estimated based on comments from IEMA. If the projects are
approved, the projected schedule would have the improvements being started in late summer of
2003. The schedule is subject to review and approvals by IEMA and FEMA, which may push
the projected schedule back.
attach: 4
cc: John Smith, Asst.
