Van Steenhuyse, Plannin ag��� <br /> Hala Ahmed, Environmental Programs Speciahst-�-� <br /> SUBJECT: Renewal of the Curbside Recycling Contract for 2002-2003 <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends approval of the attached resolution, which when approved, will extend the <br /> Residential Curbside Recycling Agreement for the year 2002-2003. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Under terms of the original recycling agreement, executed September 29, 1999, the City has the <br /> authority to extend the contract 4 times for a period of one year each time. The current <br /> agreement will expire on September 30, 2002. Suburban Disposal and Recycling, the recycling <br /> contractor, has generally performed well on providing recycling services and Staff has no <br /> objection to retaining their services for Decatur residents. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> Staff is not aware of any sources of objection at this time. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: <br /> Please refer to the attached letter of agreement signed by the contractor approving the renewal of <br /> the agreement and the original recycling contract. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: <br /> If Council members have questions they may contact Hala Ahmed, 424-2798, <br /> hahmed(a�decaturnet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> The 2002-2003 contract will continue with the same fee determined in the original agreement, <br /> i.e. providing recycling services at $1.40/household/month, to be billed quarterly with municipal <br /> services. <br />
