POLICE SERVICES AND ASSISTANCE <br /> The Chief of Police for the City of Decatur, or that Chief s designee, and the Sheriff of <br /> Macon County, or that Sheri�s designee, shall be responsible for receiving requests for <br /> police services and assistance in accordance with the policies and procedures adopted by <br /> the Agencies. The manner in which Agencies shall request police services and assistance <br /> from other Agencies, and themselves to respond to such requests, shall be as follows: <br /> 1. Each Agency,through its authorized personnel, may request police services or <br /> assistance from the other Agency. <br /> 2. The requesting Agency shall specify the type of police service or assistance, which <br /> is needed, and state the number of personnel and the amount and type of <br /> equipment, which are being requested. <br /> 3. The responding Agency shall make a reasonable effort to provide the police <br /> services or assistance requested pursuant to this Agreement, subject to its <br /> workload and availability of police officers at the time of the request,the nature <br /> and urgency of the request, and other such similar limiting factors. If it agrees to <br /> provide police services or assistance,the responding Agency shall, at its sole <br /> discretion, determine the number of personnel and the amount and type of <br /> equipment that will be provided. <br /> 4. The Agency which is requesting police services or assistance from other Agencies, <br /> and the types of police services and assistance which they are requesting, are as <br /> follows: <br /> a. The Countv of Macon hereby requests that the police department of the City of <br /> Decatur provide police services and assistance in situations where they receive <br /> calls or requests for emergency and routine police services and assistance from <br /> persons who would ordinarily be within the jurisdiction of the Sheri�s Office <br /> of Macon County, or where the police officers or other personnel of said <br /> Agencies view circumstances indicating probable cause that there has been, is, <br /> or will be a situation in which the laws of the State of Illinois were, are being, <br /> or will be broken, or will be a situation in which there is grave danger of bodily <br /> harm, or a situation involving mob action, a riot, or other civil disturbance. <br /> b. The City of Decatur hereby requests thai the Sheri�s Office of the County of <br /> Macon provide police services and assistance in situations where they receive <br /> calls or requests for emergency and routine police services and assistance from <br /> persons who would ordinarily be within the jurisdiction of City of Decatur, or <br /> where the police officers or other personnel of said Agencies view <br /> circumstances indicating probable cause tha.t there has been, is, or will be a <br /> situation in which the laws of the State of Illinois were, are being, or will be <br /> broken, or will be a situation in which there is grave danger of bodily harm, or <br /> a situation involving mob action, a riot, or other civil disturbance. <br />
