Newell, P.E., City Engineer`yyt� <br /> SUBJECT: Decatur Street Storm Sewer Replacement, City Project 2002-12 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Decatur Street Storm Sewer Replacement, City Project 2002-12, to Barr & Robison <br /> Sewer & Excavating, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$17,666, and that <br /> the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> A portion of this storm sewer collapsed under the weight of a garbage truck in the spring of 2001. <br /> Emergency repairs were performed on this line at that time, however, the investigation <br /> determined that the remainder of the line had significant cracking and was experiencing minor <br /> failures. It was noted that voids were present under the pavement at various other locations along <br /> this pipe. This project will remove and replace the remaining portion of the storm sewer line. <br /> The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was <br /> advertised on June 5, 2002 and bids were opened on June 21, 2002. The results of the letting are <br /> as follows (bid tabulation attached): <br />
