Mil er, AICP, Planner�,�(�. ; <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution authorizing agreement with Jim and Emmy Williams for <br /> Demolition of 135 East Prairie Avenue <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the resolution. <br /> BACKGROUND: In 1995, the Williams' were participants in the City's Downtown Facade <br /> Program receiving $25,991.49 for the renovation of the facade at 135 East Prairie Avenue. An <br /> agreement was signed at the time stating that the facade improvements would be maintained for a <br /> period of twenty years. In December of 1999, a fire damaged the building beyond repair. The <br /> attached agreement states that a demolition permit will be issued and the Williams' will agree to <br /> an architectural plan review, by City staff, of any proposed replacement building before a <br /> building permit is issued. The design of the replacement building shall be consistent with the <br /> historical nature of the downtown area and shall contain at least two stories. After demolition of <br /> the building, the City will release the facade easement. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known objectors. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCES: If Council members have questions they may contact Kathy Miller at <br /> 424-2786 or at kjmiller@decaturnet.org. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The terms of the agreement extend through October 24, <br /> 2015. <br />
