Newell, P.E., City Engineer..,w
SUBJECT: Fairview Road Sanitary Sewer Repair, City Project 2002-22
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the
contract for Fairview Road Sanitary Sewer Repair, City Project 2002-22, to Bodine Services,
Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of $16,630, and that the Mayor be
authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest.
BACKGROUND:
A citizen complaint was received about a sink hole in the boulevard in front of their residence. A
televised inspection of the sanitary sewer pipe identified a collapsed section of pipe which was
causing the sink hole. It was also determined that approximately 110 feet of sewer was in very
poor condition and should be replaced along with the collapsed section. It was determined that
the condition of the pipe was such that there was adequate time to prepare a design and solicit
competitive bids for the repair work.
The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was
advertised on May 9, 2002 and bids were opened on May 14, 2001.
