Perry,Purchasing Supervisor�� <br /> SUBJECT: Rescind emergency rental of generator <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends rescinding the contract of Altorfer, <br /> Inc. for cause. Staff also requests awaxding contract to Wabash Power Equipment Company to <br /> furnish emergency rental of generator. <br /> BACKGROUND: On April 15, 2002, City Council approved awarding a contract to Altorfer, <br /> Inc. to furnish an emergency rental of a generator for $27,140. The generator is required because <br /> during a recent switchgear test, a failure occurred to one of the power feed lines running from the <br /> raw water pump station to the South Water Treatment Plant. To remedy the situation on a short <br /> term basis, a generator was brought in from Altorfer, Inc. However, after initial startup City staff <br />, was unable to power up the generatar. Staff and Altorfer, Inc. have determined the generator <br /> provided is not compatible with the City's electrical system. Altorfer currently has no other <br /> rental units available. The City is not in a position to wait until Altorfer has another unit <br /> available, and therefore requests the council rescind the contract with Altorfer, Inc. <br /> Staff further requests awarding a contract to Wabash Power Equipment Company to furnish <br />� rental of a generator for an estimate of one month at the following rate: <br /> One month rental - $10,500.00 not to exceed 120 hours usa e, if over 120 hours cost is <br /> � g , <br />, $17.50/per hour.) <br /> Estimated Freight $ 2,000.00 <br /> Start Up Services 1 537.50 <br /> (1 and %2 days) $14,037.50 <br /> I <br />
