Newell, P.E., City Engineer� <br /> SUBJECT: Street Restoration, City Project 2002-08 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Street Restoration, City Project 2002-08, to Dunn Company, as the lowest, <br /> responsible bidder in the. amount of$1,141,382.64, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute <br /> the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Street Restoration project involves removing one to two inches of the existing street surface <br /> by milling and then placing a new hot bituminous concrete surface over the milled area. The <br /> purpose of this program is to restore the useful life to a pavement in advance of its deteriorating <br /> to a condition that would require its complete reconstruction. An additional benefit of the <br /> program is that the ride ability of the street is improved for users. This year's program will <br /> include approximately 11.33 centerline miles of streets throughout the City. A listing of the <br /> streets in this year's program is attached. <br /> The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was <br /> advertised on April 10, 2002 and bids were received on Apri126, 2002.
