Perry,Purchasing Supervisor� <br /> SUBJECT: Bid for Engine Generator and Switchgear Package <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding contract to Altorfer, Inc. to <br /> furnish an engine generator and switchgear package which includes: <br /> 1 -2002 Caterpillar 3516 MUI diesel generator � <br /> 1 -2002 Fireguard UL 2085 fuel storage tank <br /> 1 - 2002 ISO Powerlynx electrical switchgear and paralleling equipment SKV <br /> BACKGROUND: Once the new nitrate removal facility is operational, the current generator <br /> will not be able to adequately supply the South Water Treatment Plant and the nitrate facility. In <br /> addition, the existing generator can produce electricity to operate the South Water Treatment <br /> Plant at only 50% total capacity. If there were a loss of the water pressure below 20 PSI, this <br /> could result in a city wide boil order. A second diesel powered emergency generator will solve <br /> these problems and concerns. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. <br /> INPUT FROM OTAER SOURCES: Black& Veatch Corporation wrote the bid specifications <br /> and Water Management approves this purchase. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Ray McDannell, Water Plant Maintenance Supervisor 424-2830, <br /> Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing Supervisor 424-2762. John A. Smith will be at the council <br /> meeting to answer any questions the council may have about this purchase. <br /> BUDGET: $690,416.00 from Water Capital Fund. <br />
