Streets proposed for this project have existing pavement that is badly
deteriorated through age and use and can no longer be effectively maintained by the City's street
crews. An additional goal is to restore curb and gutter wherever possible.
The reconstruction portion of this year's project consists of reconstructing a street (road surface
and sub-base) over the course of one week. This year's project also includes curb replacement
and some general milling and overlay. A listing of the streets in this year's project is attached for
your information.
The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was
advertised on March 20, 2002 and bids were received on April 5, 2002. The results of the letting
are as follows (bid tabulation attached):
Compared to
Engineer's Est.
Bidder Bid Price Over (;Under
Engineer's Estimate $1,773,871.39 -----
Dunn Company $1,415,677.72 (-20.19%)
Illinois Va1leyPaving $1,510,689.68 (-14.84%)
