Perry,Purchasing Supervisor�„� <br /> SUBJECT: Reject bid for dredge <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends rejecting the bid of Dredging Supply <br /> Company, Inc. for a hydraulic cutterhead dredge. � <br /> BACKGROUND: The bid received from Dredging Supply Company, Inc. is higher than the <br /> estimate of$1,500,000 by the City's consultant and staff. The bid came in higher than expected <br /> due to the sophisticated nature of the dredge specified, the performance bond and retainage <br /> specified to ensure a timely delivery, and the American Bureau of Shipping approval hull design <br /> requested to ensure a high quality product. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Water Management requested the dredge and wrote the <br /> bid specifications. They recommend rejection of bid. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: John Smith, Assistant City Manager for Public Services 424-2834, <br /> Keith Alexander, Director of Water Management 424-2863, and Deborah M. Perry, Purchasing �� <br /> Supervisor 424-2762. John Smith will be at the meeting to answer any questions the council �' <br /> may have about this item. ' <br />
