ILLINOIS COMPILED STATLTTES (ILCS.): The codified laws enacted by the Illinois � <br /> Legislature. <br /> IMPROVED SURFACE: A paved surface designed for the use of motor vehicles and <br /> constructed of concrete, asphalt or similar materials. A rock bed does not constitute an <br /> improved surface. <br /> INSTITUTION: A building occupied by a non-profit corporation or a non-profit establishment <br /> for public use. � <br /> INTERMEDIATE CARE FACILITY (ICF): A facility that provides, on a continuing basis, <br /> personal care, including dressing and eating and health-related care and services, to <br /> individuals who require such assistance but who do not require the degree of care and <br /> treatment provided by a hospital, long term care facility or similar skilled nursing facility. <br /> INTERMODAL TRANSIT FACILITY: A complex designed for the transfer of human <br /> passengers and their cazgo with various forms of transportation, including bus,rail, taxi or <br /> shuttle. <br /> INTERMODAL TRANSPORTATION FACILITY: A complex of buildings and transportation <br /> systems designed to facilitate the movement of goods from one mode of transport to another. <br /> Typical faciliti�s include rail-to-truck or truck-to-air operations. Warehousing and <br /> distribution operations are typically conducted in such a complex <br /> ISOLUX: Contours of horizontal footcandles as shown on a photometric plan. <br /> KENNEL: Any establishment in which animals aze housed, groomed,bred,boarded, trained or � <br /> sold, generally for a fee or compensation. <br /> KITCHEN: A portion of a residence or business with running water dedicated to the preparation <br /> and storage of food. <br /> LABORATORY, MEDICAL: A building or portion of a building occupied by dental, x-ray <br /> (both for treatment and diagnosis) and optical laboratories,where services (including <br /> preparation and compounding) are provided solely on medical prescription. <br /> LABORATORY, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: a facility for the activities of <br /> investigation of the fields of the natural, physical and social sciences with the intention of <br /> improving societal conditions. Research and development activities often require special <br /> services including water,�gas, ventilation, chemicals,heating, electrical and/or electrical <br /> equipment. <br /> LATTICE TOWER: A guyed or self-supporting three or four sided, open, steel frame structure <br /> used to support telecommunications equipment. <br /> LICENSE: For the purposes of Section XXVII, Wireless facilities, the rights and obligations <br /> extended by the City to an operator to own, construct,maintain, and operate its system within <br /> the boundaries of the City for the sole purpose of providing services to persons or areas <br /> outside the municipality. <br /> LIGHT STANDARD: The pole, mast, or structure to which outdoor lighting is attached. <br /> LOADING SPACE: A space within the main building or on the same lot therewith, providing � <br /> for the standing, loading or unloading of trucks. <br /> 14 <br />
