Newell, P.E., City Engineer ,;��i� ; <br /> SUBJECT: Furnishing Traf�c Signal Controller& Cabinets, City Project 2002-02 � , <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: I <br /> It is recommended b staff that the Cit Council a rove the attached resolution awardin the I'� <br /> Y Y pP g <br /> contract for Furnishing Traffic Signal Controllers & Cabinets, City Project 2002-02, to Brown '� <br /> Traffic Products, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$22,425.00, and that the � <br /> Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. � <br /> BACKGROUND: ' <br /> The staff is proposing a material bid to acquire traffic signal controller and cabinet units that will <br /> be used as replacements at signalized intersections as units are damaged or as upgraded units are <br /> needed to maintain reliable operation. The City currently maintains over 130 signalized <br /> intersections. It is imperative that the maintenance inventory be stocked with replacement traffic <br /> signal controller units and cabinets to insure integrity within the overall system operations. <br /> The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was <br /> advertised on January 16, 2002 and bids were opened on January 29, 2002. The results of the <br /> letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached): <br /> Compared to <br /> Engineer's Est. <br /> Bidder Bid Price Over (-Under� <br /> Engineer's Estimate $30,000.00 ----- <br /> Brown Traffic Products, Inc. $22,425.00 (25.25% ) <br />
