Perry,Purchasing Supervisor�,Q <br /> SUBJECT: Contract For Compost Disposal <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding a contract to Romer <br /> Brothers Environmental Recycling to dispose of compost materials including tree branches, tree <br /> trunks, leaves and brush. The contract period will be February 1, 2002 through January 31, 2006. <br /> BACKGROUND: On January 1, 2002 disposal rates increased at the compost facility by$.50 <br /> per cubic yard. By entering into a 4 year agreement the City will be protected from this increase <br /> and any others should they occur during the contract period. In addition to being protected from <br /> rate increases the City will save $1.00 per cubic yard on the compost material disposed during <br /> the peak time from October 15 -December 15 each year. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None. I <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Street Division recommends a roval of contract. I'� <br /> PP � <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Phil Wilhelm 875-4820. Steve Swanson will be at the meeting to <br /> answer any questions the City Council may have about this contract. <br /> BUDGET: $4.75 per cubic yard (December 16 - October 14) <br /> $3.75 per cubic yard (October 15 - December 15) from General Fund. <br />
