Perry,Purchasing Supervisor�,Q SUBJECT: Contract For Compost Disposal SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends awarding a contract to Romer Brothers Environmental Recycling to dispose of compost materials including tree branches, tree trunks, leaves and brush. The contract period will be February 1, 2002 through January 31, 2006. BACKGROUND: On January 1, 2002 disposal rates increased at the compost facility by$.50 per cubic yard. By entering into a 4 year agreement the City will be protected from this increase and any others should they occur during the contract period. In addition to being protected from rate increases the City will save $1.00 per cubic yard on the compost material disposed during the peak time from October 15 -December 15 each year.
