Newell, P.E., City Engineer <br /> SUBJECT: Division Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement, City Project 2001-54 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Division Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement, City Project 2001-54, to Entler <br /> Excavating Co., Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$45,120.00, and that the <br /> Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> City maintenance crews discovered extreme distress present in a sanitary sewer pipe located in <br /> Division Street extending from Warren Street approximately 430 feet to the west, as shown on <br /> the attached drawing. Subsequent televising of the subject sewer uncovered at lease two major <br /> pipe failures with voids under the pavement and general structural problems throughout the <br /> sewer. The deteriorated condition of the sewer was such that a camera could only make it <br /> through a limited portion of the pipe. <br /> The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was <br /> advertised on December 17, 2001 and bids were opened on December 28, 2001.
