Newell, P.E., City Engineer
SUBJECT: Division Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement, City Project 2001-54
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the
contract for Division Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement, City Project 2001-54, to Entler
Excavating Co., Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$45,120.00, and that the
Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest.
BACKGROUND:
City maintenance crews discovered extreme distress present in a sanitary sewer pipe located in
Division Street extending from Warren Street approximately 430 feet to the west, as shown on
the attached drawing. The project was
advertised on December 17, 2001 and bids were opened on December 28, 2001. The results of
the letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached):
Compared to
Engineer's Est.
Bidder Bid Price Over (-Under
Engineer's Estimate $55,160.00 -----
Entler Excavating Co., Inc. $45,120.00 (18.20%)
Barr&Robison
Sewer&Excavating, Inc. $46,065.00 (16.49%)
Burdick Plumbing &
Heating Co., Inc. $57,710.00 4.62%
Bodine Services, Inc. $68,220.00 23.68%
