Berard, Civil Engineer II Q'Y� <br /> SUBJECT: Contract Change Order-Water Main Extension Project, <br /> City Project 2001-01 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by City staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution issuing a <br /> change order to the contract to Bodine Services, Inc., in the amount of $39,100, and that the <br /> Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. I <br /> BACKGROUND: I <br /> On December 10, 2001, Cit Council awarded a contract to Bodine Services, Inc., for Water I <br /> Y <br /> Main Extension Project. One component on the project includes an extension of the water main <br /> on Forest Crest Road from State Route 48 to Midiron Road. This change order will extend the <br /> water main an additional 1650 feet on Forest Crest Road. Staff recommends to proceed with this <br /> extension at this time for the following reasons: <br /> a) To extend the distribution system to new customers and future developments. <br /> b) To take advantage of contract prices well below the engineer's estimate. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: <br /> There are no known obj ectors to this action. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell, City Engineer, at 424-2747 <br /> Richard Berard, Civil Engineer II, at 424-2747 <br /> The City Engineer, Matt Newell, will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any <br /> questions of the Council on this item. <br />
