Quandt, Civil Engineer I,�% � iz1��` <br /> SUBJECT: Garfield Bridge Pin & Link Replacement, City Project 9931 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Garfield Bridge Pin & Link Replacement, City Project 9931, to Halverson <br /> Construction Co., Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$66,800.00, and that <br /> the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> This item was originally put out for bid on Apri124, 2000. At that time the project received one <br /> bid only and it was determined that the bid was too high to accept as reasonable and it was <br /> rejected. Some changes were made to the plans and specifications to address concerns from <br /> bidders and the proj ect was rebid at a time that would not conflict with the IDOT bid letting <br /> schedule. <br /> The project specifications were prepared by URS Corporation and City Engineering with input <br /> from the Illinois Department of Transportation. The project was advertised on October 31, 2001 <br /> and bids were opened on November 20, 2001.
