HASC 'i <br /> October 17, 2001 �', <br /> Page Three i <br /> Walking Tour Brochure - Mrs. Kunzeman reported that work on the brochure is in progress. <br /> Monuments and Columns - Mr. Bragg reported that materials had been sent to Andre and work <br /> had been done with Methods and Materials, the demolition contractor to remove the columns. ' <br /> The cost of demolition is estimated at $12,600 which includes transporting the original bases ' <br /> and capitals to the Municipal Services Center. The cost to restore the Stephen Decatur statue is <br /> $15,000. The estimate will be forwarded to City Council along with a notice that the columns <br /> are failed structurally and will be replaced later. Methods and Materials is ready to begin work <br /> on December 1, 2001. <br /> Urban Corridor Steering Committee - Mrs. Potter reported that the committee would be meeting <br /> next Tuesday. There will be a public meeting on November 1, 2001 at 7:00 P.M. in the Madden <br /> Auditorium at the Decatur Public Library. The consultants will provide alternate concepts for <br /> the three corridors. <br /> . Preservation Watch - 630 South Monroe and 431 West Main. <br /> Ms. Miller reported that there were additions to the list of demolitions: 3465 East Division <br /> (ADM), 1161 West Main (Millikin University) and the 300 Block of North Water. <br /> Heritage Network- no report. <br /> Mr. Atwater provided a report on NWRAPS stating that the Heritage and Holly tours will be held <br /> next month. The new CHDO Administrator is Duane Potter. <br /> Mrs. Cross provided a report on the Historic Decatur Foundation stating that she had gone to <br /> court regarding receivership of the Culver House. The foundation must provide the judge with a <br /> feasibility study in the next 90 days to prove there is financial backing for the project and that the <br /> structure is in condition to be rehabilitated. Mr. Luker was present and provided his own <br /> counsel. Mrs. Cross verified the receipt of the $150,000 grant. City Legal staff requested access <br /> to the house which was granted and the locks will be changed. Mr. Luker has the right to appeal. <br /> If the judge approves the feasibility study work could begin. <br /> Ms. Miller reported that the deadline for submittals for the 2002 Ten Most Endangered Places is <br /> January 14, 2002. Suggestions included the Jasper Street firehouse and the old gas station on <br /> Martin Luther King. Mrs. Cross will follow up. <br /> The next regular meeting of the Historical and Architectural Sites Commission will be held on <br /> Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 4:00 P.M. in the Engineering Conference Room. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 4:58 P.M. <br />
