Newell, P.E., City Engineer�� <br /> SUBJECT: Miscellaneous Sanitary Sewer Improvements, City Project 2001-31 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Miscellaneous Sanitary Sewer Improvements, City Project 2001-31, to Entler <br /> Excavating Co., Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$31,100.00, and that the <br /> Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Miscellaneous Sanitary Sewer Improvements project involves the following work: <br /> • Installing a new manhole at the end of a dead end sanitary sewer run in the alley behind North <br /> Edward Street just north of Sawyer Street. <br /> • Replacing an existing manhole along with 40 lineal feet of 15" sanitary sewer to repair a <br /> failed manhole and pipe at the intersection of Jackson and Cerro Gordo. <br /> • Replacing approximately 40 lineal feet of 8" sanitary sewer in Karen Court to repair a failed <br /> section of pipe. <br /> This work is necessary to maintain the integrity of the City's sanitary sewer system and its ability <br /> to maintain service to the residents of the City. <br /> The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was <br /> advertised on June 6, 2001 and bids were opened on June 21, 2001. The results of the letting are <br /> as follows (bid tabulation attached): <br />
