Newell, P.E., City Engineer�� SUBJECT: Miscellaneous Sanitary Sewer Improvements, City Project 2001-31 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the contract for Miscellaneous Sanitary Sewer Improvements, City Project 2001-31, to Entler Excavating Co., Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$31,100.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. BACKGROUND: The Miscellaneous Sanitary Sewer Improvements project involves the following work: • Installing a new manhole at the end of a dead end sanitary sewer run in the alley behind North Edward Street just north of Sawyer Street. • Replacing an existing manhole along with 40 lineal feet of 15" sanitary sewer to repair a failed manhole and pipe at the intersection of Jackson and Cerro Gordo. • Replacing approximately 40 lineal feet of 8" sanitary sewer in Karen Court to repair a failed section of pipe. This work is necessary to maintain the integrity of the City's sanitary sewer system and its ability to maintain service to the residents of the City. The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was advertised on June 6, 2001 and bids were opened on June 21, 2001. The results of the letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached):
