Newell, P.E., City Engineer y�,,��/ � <br /> vvv� <br /> SUBJECT: Concrete Pavement Joint Repairs, City Project 2001-18 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution awarding the <br /> contract for Concrete Pavement Joint Repairs, City Project 2001-18, to Otto Baum Company, <br /> Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of $220,959.00 and that the Mayor be <br /> authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> A significant portion of the pavement maintenance / rehabilitation effort for a portland cement <br /> concrete (P.C.C.) street centers around the maintenance of expansion joints. A significant <br /> improvement can be made in the drivability of a concrete street if the load carrying capacity of its <br /> joints are maintained or, as in the case of this project, restored. This project involves removing <br /> deteriorated joints on Woodford Street, north of Garfield Avenue, and MacArthur Road, north of <br /> Mound Road, and reinstalling them in accordance with State and City Standards. This project <br /> will also include the replacement of adjacent curb and gutter sections as necessary. <br /> The project specifications were prepared by the Engineering Division. The project was <br /> advertised on June 6, 2001 and bids were opened on June 21, 2001.
