Item Coversheet Page 1 of 1 � City Clerk DATE: 1/13/2016 MEMO: 2016-01 TO: Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members � FROM: Tim Gleason,CiTy Manager Debbie Bri ht Ci Clerk g , tY SUBJECT: Investment Advisory Committee,Fire Rescue and Response Advisory Board,Landmark Mall Maintenance Committee SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: On the Agenda for the January 19,2016,Council meeting are three(3)items related to a Board and two(2)Committees that are no longer active and functioning but still remain in the City Code or related Resolutions. An Investment Advisory Committee was established by a Resolution in 1959. This committee has not functioned in any manner for at least fifteen(15)years. The City Council recently appointed the City Manager and the City Treasurer as investment agents for the City. The Investment Advisory Committee is no longer needed. Chapter 44.1 of the City Code created the Fire Rescue and Response Advisory Board. This Board was created following the advent of the Hazardous Materials Team of the Decatur Fire Department approximately fifteen(15)years ago. Some of our local corporations provided monies for the creation of this Board. These monies are no longer accepted for this team and therefore,the Board is no longer active in any capacity. The Landmark Mall Maintenance Committee was established in the 1970's to provide for the annual maintenance of the Landmark Pedestrian Mall which in turn provided for the amount necessary to assess the property owners in that area. The Finance Department indicates that there are no more assessments being made. The purpose for which the Committee was formed no longer exists and the Committee is no longer active. Staff recommends the approval of the Resolution repealing the Resolution establishing the Investment Advisory Committee, the Ordinance repealing Chapter 44.1 of the City Code Fire Rescue and Response Advisory Board and the Ordinance repealing Ordinance No.5420 establishing the Landmark Mall Maintenance Committee.
