Newell, P.E., City Engineer ��{� <br /> SUBJECT: City-State Agreement Covering the Proposed Installation of Traffic Signals <br /> at the Intersection of U.S. Route 36 with 36th Street. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing an <br /> agreement between the City of Decatur and the State of Illinois covering the proposed installation <br /> of traffic signals at the intersection of U.S. Route 36 with 36th Street. ' <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The total cost of this proposed installation is $115,000. Design and construction costs relative to <br /> this proposed project will be borne by the City ($6,440), State ($29,840) and Federal ($78,720) <br /> governments. <br /> The Agreement requires the City to pay up to 125% of its portion (5%) of the cost for the <br /> estimated construction and engineering costs for the traffic signals ($5,750) and 100% of the cost <br /> for luminaries and wiring for intersection lighting ($1,600) requested by the City. The attached <br /> resolution authorizes the expenditure of up to $7,590 for the installation of traffic signals at the <br /> intersection of U.S. Route 36 and 36th Street. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Illinois Department of Transportation <br />
