Quandt, E.I.T., Civil Engineer� <br /> SUBJECT: Annual Sidewalk Program City Project 2001-21 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution which <br /> authorizes the following: <br /> 1. Awarding the contract for Annual Sidewalk Program, City Project 2001-21, to Bodine <br /> Services, Inc., as the lowest, responsible bidder in the amount of$468,162.50, and; <br /> 2. Authorizes the City Manager and the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure to <br /> increase the contract amount not to exceed $514,978.75 to enable the construction of <br /> additional sidewalks as needed. <br /> BACKGROUND: �I <br /> The purpose of this project is to improve the City's sidewalk system by installing new sidewalks <br /> and replacing deteriorated sidewalks in addition to ADA ramps in various areas of the City. The <br /> proposed sidewalk contract for this fiscal year incorporates three following sidewalk initiatives ' <br /> identified for the General Fund: New Sidewalks ($210,000), Annual ADA Ramp Program <br /> ($90,000), and Sidewalk Replacement ($250,000). In the interest of obtaining the best possible <br /> bids, staff has combined these projects under one contract. <br /> The project plans and specifications were prepared by Engineering Division staff. The project <br /> was advertised April 18, 2001, and bids were opened on May 14, 2001. The results for the <br /> letting are as follows: <br />
