Mr. A.J. Krieger
Assistant City Manager
Economic& Urban Devetopment
City of Decatur ,
BWC#01-15 (Rev. 5/9/01) !,
May 14, 2001 I
Page— 2 — '
We propose compensation on a Salary Cost Times a Factor Plus Direct Reimbursable Expenses Times
A Multiplier Basis as defined in Enclosure (1).
We propose "Not-to-Exceed" amounts as follows:
1. Asbestos Engineering Services $22,000
2. General Demolition Engineering Services $18,000
Several points we discussed during our meeting on the 9"'are:
1. We have included full time on-site services during the actual asbestos abatement work by the
abatement contractor. A Final Report will be submitted which will include air sampling results, a
log of activities at the site during abatement, and chain of custody documents for the removed
asbestos including the receipt at the landfill. This approach will minimize the City's exposure to
liability for the asbestos.
2. We are proposing compensation on a Salary Cost Times a Factor Basis with "Not-to-Exceed"
amounts. This fixes the maximum cost to the City. However if our actual costs are less the City
will pay only those actual costs.
3. I have prepared a schedule beginning on May 21, 2001 forthe purpose of indicating a schedule
for our services and a general idea of what the overall redevelopment of the block might be. For
an example I have used a 52 week construction period for a new building. That is a guess of
course, but it is possible. I have attached 10 copies of that schedule.
If you have any questions please call.
Very truly yours,
B NK, WESSELINK COOK & ASSOCIATES, INC.
'
Ha . ook, Jr., P. .
Pre ide
HMC:ddb
Enclosure
