Newell, P.E., City Engineer i�'� <br /> SUBJECT: MFT Resolution Authorizing the Allocation of Funds for the City's Portion <br /> of the Improvement of U.S. Route 51 Business and IL 105 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the <br /> allocation of MFT funds to pay the City's portion of costs associated with the proposed <br /> improvement of U.S Route 51 on the south side of Decatur. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> An item on the agenda for the March 19, 2001, City Council meeting is a resolution authorizing <br /> the allocation of funds from the City's Motor Fuel Tax Fund to pay the City's portion of the costs <br /> for construction of the proposed improvements as described in Agreement No. JN-500004 with <br /> the State of Illinois acting through its Department of Transportation. This agreement between the <br /> City of Decatur and the State of Illinois covers the proposed improvement of U.S. Route 51 <br /> (Business) on the south side of the City, including new traffic signals at the intersection of Martin <br /> Luther King Jr. Drive/Lake Shore Drive (IL Rt. 105) and the modernization of the traffic signals <br /> at the intersection of U.S. Rt. 51 / lst Drive. <br /> The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) requires a resolution specifically authorizing <br /> the expenditure of funds from the City's Motor Fuel Tax Fund. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution. <br />
