� � F MINUTES OF PUBLIC HEARING On March 9, 2001, at 3:00 p.m. a public hearing was held concerning Decatur's intention ', to file a mass transit operating and capital assistance grant application with the Federal Transit Administration(FTA) to request $956,957 in assistance. The City intends to request $700,000 in ' financial assistance to offset the operating deficit of the Transit System's $2.5 million operating expenses for FY 2001. The City also intends to request$256,957 in capital assistance for a variety of projects. The largest capital project would add $129,600 to the state and federal grants already obtained to complete the funding necessary to construct the nearly $1.3 million multi-modal transportation facility in downtown Decatur. The notice of the meeting (see copy below) was published in the Decatur Herald & Review newspaper on March 2nd, and in the Decatur Tribune newspaper on March 7th. The hearing was opened at 3:00 p.m. by Paul McChancy, Mass Transit Administrator; the hearing was officially closed at 3:30 p.m. No comments were received. The published notice also stated that written comments :��ould be accepted by mail,by FAX, and by e-mail. The City intends to request $700,OOt� in nnancial assistance to offset the operating deficit of the Transit System's $2.5 million operating expenses for FY 2001. A public hearing has been scheduled to discuss this grant application. The hearing will be held on March 9, 2001, at 3:00 p.m., in the conference room of the Transit Adininistration Building, 555 E. Wood St., Decatur, IL 62523. Everyone is invited to attend and to voice their opinions about the proposed use of federal transit funds. Written comments may be mailed to the address above, or faxed to 424-2818, or sent by e-mail to pmcchanc@fgi.net. Written cominents inust be received by 5:00 p.m. on March 9th.
