Mass Transit operating assistance for FY-2001: The City of Decatur Public Transit System operates a <br /> city wide mass transit program using 26 buses on fixed routes, plus 5 handicapped accessible vans and <br /> contracts with the finro local taxi companies to provide paratransit service for the disabled. Federal <br /> operating assistance would offset approximately 27% of the eligible operating expenses of the system for <br /> the year. <br /> 2. Mass Transit capital assistance for FY-2001: The City of Decatur has begun the process of <br /> constructing a multi-modal transportation center in downtown Decatur. The majority of the capital funds <br /> would be used to complete the funding necessary to construct the building and develop the site.
