<br /> Bidders on this project were required to provide a"base bid" covering the construction of the
<br /> facility as specified on the published plans and drawings. Each bidder was also required to show
<br /> bids on five "alternates", which are possible minor changes such as replacing exterior wood trim
<br /> with aluminum-clad triin. (See attached sheet.) These alternates were supplied to the bidders in
<br /> the bidding package, and described as possible amendments to the plans. Seven general
<br /> contractors submitted bids by the deadline for bidding. The table below shows the seven bids in
<br /> the order that they were received and opened. Following the opening of the bids, it was
<br /> determined that alternates #1 and #2 were too costly and were discarded, while alternates#3, #4
<br /> and#5 were determined to be acceptable. The table below also shows the sum of the bids for
<br /> alternates #3, #4 and #5 for each bidder, and then each bidder's total bid.
